Business Intelligence (BI) software is integral to any organization’s ability to leverage its customer and operational data for making better decision. Most companies still live in the era of MS Excel driven charts but BI tools provide enhanced capabilities to quickly visualize your data and make better decisions. BI tools are also great for collaborative discussions and meetings. You can quickly change the type of graph that the team is using, include or remove variables, without having to invest a lot of time in new visualizations.
Two of my best BI tools are Tableau and Microsoft Power BI. I really love Tableau but find that Power BI may be more functional for organizations that are already a Microsoft shop (i.e. with SharePoint, Dynamics, and other MS apps already installed). Regardless of what BI tool you choose, an investment in a BI software should not be taken lightly. Questions around current need vs strategic needs need to be taken into consideration before a decision is made on what BI tool to go for.
