In his book, “Developing the Leader within you”, John Maxwell talks about a speaker who said that, “There are two things that are most difficult to get people to do: to think, and to do things in the order of importance.” Great leaders create “thinking time”, as part of their growth plan!
It might be the first one hour in the day, one day in a week or month, or one week in a year; great leaders create time to think. Thinking enables them assess where they are, what they’ve done well, what they need to improve on, what they need to keep doing, what they need to stop and, how everything ties in to their long term vision/mission. Thinking time is hard to set aside but necessary for effectiveness! Without thinking time, busyness sets in and, we begin to mistake activity for accomplishment.
Think!
